On September 25, 1999, Barnes Foodland posted a "past" employee contest in the DeWitt Observer in recognition of the 50th Anniversary.  Prizes were awarded to customers, in a random drawing, to those who could name all eight past employees shown below. Shopping sprees were held on October 16, 1999 and were broadcast live on KMAQ 1320 AM radio.
